Everyone needs new skills: So How Do You get them?

Pressley Carson

You may not like it but you could have skills that are no longer needed in the workplace – and the workplace continually changes.

With technological advances, even the skills you develop today could be useless tomorrow.  While there are jobs out there that can’t be automated like gardening, or pastry chef, or chef, most others [...]

Keep office supply costs in line - Save a Job!

Imin Bizpain

How many pens do you actually need in just how many cups on your desk?  You mostly use the computer, so why all the pens?  And, do you really need more than one dish for paper-clips, and one for binder clips, and another for rubber bands?

Make people laugh: A few pointers

Pressley Carson

A tried and true way to win friends is to make people laugh. A good joke is a good start, but telling a joke well takes skill.

Can Bourbon Ruin a Laptop?

The Worried Worker (W2)

It depends on if the laptop wants to be ruined, I guess.

Afternoon flight from New Orleans to Los Angeles.

I hate failing!

Pressley Carson

I can’t handle failure very well.  It keeps me down for a long time.  I know I turn red and everyone is staring at me.  Then I eat beer nuts.  I want to curl up and hide.  Help me.

Wow, this is a new one on me.  While I would think failure is hard for anyone, [...]

That’s not what I said

The Worried Worker (W2)

I hear it daily
Sometimes hourly
Always from the same people
Always about them doing something
Then not doing something

People commit to doing things for you
To take some of the heat off you
Then when you call them on it
“That’s not what I said”

“Well, ok, what then, did you say?”

Pause

And, that’s how it goes
People commit
You count on them
They let you [...]

Bring passion back into your job!

Imin Bizpain

Have you lost the fire and passion that fueled you when you first began your career?

Did you ever have fire and passion for your job?

You know the feeling – like laying out new clothes before the school year starts.  It’s like the smell of your new school supplies; the plastic of the binder, the [...]
