Take a Pay Cut?

Letter To W2

Dear W2:

Staggered and flexible schedules get better work out of employees if you can get everyone to learn that no one gets special treatment.  As budgets are getting cut it looks more and more promising to me that employers have all the cards.  With the number of people available out there, the competition is no longer for good work, but for less pay.  How do I fight that?  Take a pay cut?

I’m not sure I follow your question(s) and not sure I agree with you even if I did understand it?  But I’ll give it a whack and see where it goes.

The one statement I do agree with you on is the ‘appearance’ that employers hold all the cards.  As I said, appearance…….these day’s employers are working on positioning themselves to ride-out this economy and survive.  They are taking all measures to make this happen, which includes; reducing expenses and increasing profits.  Pay cuts is only one of the avenues used to reduce expenses…..and if you are asked to take one, do it for the possibility of helping your company and fellow coworkers survive.  A reduced pay cut vs. unemployment is far better in my book.

This economy is hard on everyone but if we pull together we’ll make it!  I’m sorry you may experience some pain in this, but I’m a firm believer everyone must contribute and stay in the game to make it through!

Hang in there my friend!

pay cut may be better than no pay

What I earn is already less than what I should earn - and I don’t get any appreciation for the extras I throw in as the boss takes away more.
