1 Job for every 6 people looking – the odds are still tough

Ed

Even though there are signs that the economy is improving and that there are signs of growth, unemployed Americans that are looking for work are seeing very dark opportunities in front of them.  Recent reports from the Labor Department suggests that there is only one job available for every six people out there looking.

Some good news

The pace of layoffs may be easing and the adjustments to claims may be going down.

Some bad news

There is still huge uncertainty, people aren’t spending and employers aren’t expanding.

So, what can you do about it?

·         Stay positive as long as you can, and if you can’t, fake it

·         Keep going after jobs – do not give up

·         Keep all of your spending as tight as you can

·         Keep refining your resume and your job search efforts

·         Talk to everyone you know to keep your network open

·         Review archived articles in www.bizpain.com for tips on resumes, interviewing, and staying in shape

No one knows when this is going to turn, but it will.  No one knows what will trigger the turn, no one knows what the trigger looks like – but, this mess will turn.

And, the odds will shift in everyone’s favor over time – but, you have to keep at it – no matter what.

I read more and more about people who have lost jobs who are barely able to get by. If it gets to 1 out of 10, then what?
