Podcasts Go Mainstream

Podcast downloading is on the upswing, according to a survey of Internet users by the Pew Internet & American Life Project. Nineteen percent of all respondents said they have downloaded a podcast to listen to or view at a later time. Those numbers have been climbing steadily: In April 2006 only 7 percent reported ever [...]

Communicate, damn it!

Anita Newjob

I find it amazing the way people communicate these days. Face to face conversations and over the phone discussions are a thing of the past.

We now rely on emails, text messaging and instant messaging to get the job done.

The wave of the future is here. And someone should teach people how to communicate [...]

Getting licked is a good thing

The Worried Worker (W2)

When animals lick their wounds, it’s not just a cleanup exercise. It turns out they may be self-medicating.  Recent reports suggest that animals enjoy licking themselves so much that they’re now doing it for pleasure rather than to merely heal their wounds.

The Anitholic Church of America is apparently up in paws about this and warns [...]

I need to replace my employees - they’re horrible!

Letter To W2

Where can I get better employees and workers?  The ones I have are horrible.  I keep them up to date on our circumstances in the business, but I don’t see any effort to focus more, try harder, be more efficient.  I’m pretty frustrated.

I’d ask, where they can get a better manager!  Hey, you need to [...]

DEAR BARACK . . . You’re killing the Small Business Owner!

Imin Bizpain

Hi there. Haven’t heard from you in a while – know that you’ve been crazy busy with important stuff . . . big bank bailout, Iranian unrest, North Korean nukes – oh, and love the new puppy. Just wanted to check in now that you’ve got your feet under your desk - could we get [...]

What you need on your resume - Now!

The Worried Worker (W2)

You need to quickly and clearly deliver this information to any reader of your resume.  Always update and adjust your resume for any specific target opportunity.  If you’re sending out the same resume to all types of contacts, you are wasting your time.

·         What key, long standing problems have you solved?
·         What great ideas have [...]

Singing while you Work

Anita Newjob

Ever since I was little I have listened to music to get me through the day. Whether it was with a walkman (remember those?), CD player and now the iPod, music just seems to make life a little brighter and a little happier. Until last week.

Since our office has been disturbingly quiet lately, I started [...]

Do the Right Thing

The Worried Worker (W2)

Aren’t you amazed at the things people do?

So many people just do stupid things.  They make bad decisions, take bad bets, agree with other dummies.  They end up doing the wrong thing over and over again.

As incredible as it is how obvious the right thing is to do in most situations, people still miss it.  [...]

How hot are your decisions?

The Worried Worker (W2)

Keep an eye on the temperature of your decisions – avoid the mistakes that mark the boiling point.

Many factors enter into the decisions and judgments we make: intellectual abilities, access to information, emotional needs. Now scientists have determined that physical temperature can also impact how we see others and how we behave.  So, if you’re [...]

Michael Jackson

The Worried Worker (W2)

We’ve all heard plenty and we stand to start hearing some really bad and mean stuff soon.  Custody, estate, debt, family infighting…..it will all develop quickly.

MJ had a terrific job that will only ever have one employee.  He was the boss and the clerk. He was Billie Jean.
