All of this is nice, but it comes down to strategizing well in advance of unemployment - you need to have money set aside for the dry period - it used to be six months, but with the economy today, it's probably a lot longer. If you lose your job in an industry that is dying, getting a new job means a new industry, new skills, new look and feel - that could take you longer. Better to save your ass off as much as possible and start thinking about a new career now - maybe start a business, try ing new - but, save, learn, get fit and prepare for the worst as the worst has probably not arrived yet and when it does it won't arrive in a GM car.
