Get through your pain fast – do not linger, do not point fingers, do not regret – get your shit together right away and you can make positive things happen faster than if you go deep into the dark side.
Accept that your situation will change relative to how you manage it – if you stay in the negative, so will your prospects – if you go to the positive, your chances are improved for a quick return to employment.
Persistence means staying in the present – you can take some time off, but get back in; you can study, but do the work. There are jobs available for the right people. Be the right one – first.
Networking is key – do it now if you’re employed, do it faster if you’re not. Get into the LinkedIn craze, hook up with people, go to meetings, lunches, etc.
Improvement – self improve, clean up, work out, read, diet, study hard – but make new skills your mantra.
Get as many interviews as possible – look at every opportunity and practice your skills – don’t worry about the interviewer – they have a job! Work on your own skills.
Stay on the internet – search, question, study and then do it all again.
Help others find jobs – you may not have it right yet, but you might run across something good for someone else so help them and they will help you.
Determine what to spend, determine what not to spend – cut back immediately. Think it out, Jack.
Find a way to be positive – you will attract positive vibes if you’re positive, you will attract negative if you’re negative.

I lost my job. These tips are nice but I’m scared, really scared. Where is the tip on how to get money.
All of this is nice, but it comes down to strategizing well in advance of unemployment - you need to have money set aside for the dry period - it used to be six months, but with the economy today, it’s probably a lot longer. If you lose your job in an industry that is dying, getting a new job means a new industry, new skills, new look and feel - that could take you longer. Better to save your ass off as much as possible and start thinking about a new career now - maybe start a business, try ing new - but, save, learn, get fit and prepare for the worst as the worst has probably not arrived yet and when it does it won’t arrive in a GM car.
