We hope it isn’t the case, but if you’re in the middle of foreclosure troubles, very kindly people might appear - at your doorstep, church or tennis club - with a plan to make your troubles disappear. It could be legit, but we’ll leave up to the logic that comes with any drinking binge to believe that.

Don’t fall for it, keep your guard up, stay sober and fight your way to a new level of control and satisfaction.  You can do it.  Focus on what you need to do most and you will conquer it. 

When people are down, scum bags materialize like cock roaches in a dirty restaurant when the lights are turned on.  No sooner do you vomit from your personal fear, but a giant cockroach in a nice suit and shiny shoes – or an email offer – shows up to save your ass.

Foreclosure Scams stinking up the Recession:

Do not believe anyone who:

* guarantees to stop your foreclosure process;

* collects upfront fees of any amount;

* asks to be paid by wire or cashier’s check;

* instructs you not to contact your lender or lawyer;

* wants you to make mortgage payments directly to him or her, and in their name;

* suggests you sign over or “share” your property deed or title;

* proposes a lease-and-buyback arrangement;

* offers to fill out paperwork for you; or

* pressures you to sign documents you don’t understand.

You might read these examples and wonder, “what, Worried Worker, are you insane?  These are obviously scams.”

You’re right, they are.  But, people are falling for them.  And, it’s probably the same people who owned several properties when all they could afford was a simple home for their families.
