AIGreed

The Worried Worker (W2)

This isn’t about just the insurance company AIG anymore, folks, it’s about our elected officials, the big AIG.

Americans In Government

The House recently approved a 90% tax on AIG bonuses, like some sort of tantrum.  The House is part of the group of dummies that gave AIG the taxpayer money in the first place.  And, make no mistake, when they heard of the bonuses, they were “outraged” “disgusted” “envious” and on and on.

Let’s look at this logically.

Bonuses should be paid through earnings, and there weren’t any – so bonuses should not have been paid.  How is it possible that these guys paid bonuses through taxpayer bailout money?  Oh, sure, the law had to be upheld, or something like that.  But, come on, these people accepted millions through all of this.  Didn’t at least one of them have the character and decency to say “no thank you.”

“Oh, wow, that bonus thing.”  The bonus-getter says, looking closely at the check amount.  His eyes open  a bit wider.

“Yeah, we have to give it you by law, but I’d rather stick my five year anniversary Mont Blanc pen deep into the nape of my neck than give you any of this tax-payer money – including MINE!”  The HR guy uttered, spittle popping on the right side of his mouth.

“Can I get an envelope for it?  The bonus-getter whispers, leaning forward to the HR Guy, with a little wink.

This situation is beyond the point of madness.

Our elected officials have guaranteed income unless they get into some weird scandal in an airport bathroom – even if they don’t pay taxes, they can hold offices in the inner sanctum.  They get the best healthcare in the world.  They get to travel, eat and party with excess pretty much all the time – you don’t see them saying, “the filet looks great, but I’ll just have a dinner salad and a bowl of soup.”

The pictures you use clearly suggest you’re a a lonely guy. But, your point is right on - my family is really in the dumps.
