Get it off your chest

The Worried Worker (W2)

Is talking about your problems really a good idea? Conventional wisdom says yes. Yet according to a study that originally appeared in the journal Developmental Psychology, there’s some risk involved for girls, more than for boys.  (has nothing to do with the size of chest, just gender)

The study found that girls who talked excessively about [...]

Don’t Jump!

Letter To W2

I really can’t take much more, but I don’t have anywhere else to go.  The job market is scary and I’m glad I have work, but so much is being dumped on me, it’s hard to keep up.  My boss says it’s delegating, but it isn’t.  What should I do?

Yep, this is true Bizpain……so much [...]

Beware of “work-at-home” Scams

The Worried Worker (W2)

“Earn thousands of dollars a month from your home!” We’ve all seen these types of ads posted on telephone poles and the Internet. It sounds great, but the Federal Trade Commission recommends exercising caution when it comes to work-at-home opportunities. Many of these companies don’t deliver on their promises, warns the FTC.

What many of these [...]

My Boss Wants Me To Hire His Idiot Friend

Letter To W2

With all hell breaking loose, I actually have a job opening and my boss sent over two referrals – they’re friends of his family.  Their resumes are terrible and one of them was so socially inept in the interview I could barely get through it; the other never showed up.  I asked some colleagues and [...]

Work is My Salvation

Mad James

We all complain about our jobs and how much we hate going to work – Lord knows I do. But you know…recently work has actually been my salvation.

I’ve gone through some difficult situations at home lately, personal problems that seem to plague us all. On those days when I don’t want to face that reality, [...]

Nuns face Lay-offs!

The Worried Worker (W2)

A recent report indicated that New York’s Convent of Mercy was out of funds and had to close.

The convent has been helping those in need for nearly 150 years and, in fact, dates back to the Civil War.

Since 1862, the fortress-like complex has sheltered, educated and nurtured people in need, from Irish orphans to developmentally [...]

Five Best Excuses when caught Sleeping at Your Desk

The Worried Worker (W2)

#5:        They told me at the Blood Bank this might happen.

#4:        This is just a 15 minute power nap they raved about in the time-management course you sent me to.

#3:        Whew! I left the top off the White-out. You probably got here just in time!

#2:        Did you ever notice sound coming out [...]

Thirty Days without the Internet? Ugh!

Imin Bizpain

How much time do you spend cruising the internet every week at work?  An hour? Two or three?   A survey done years ago, indicated that the average worker admitted to 2.09 hours wasted . . . every day…on the internet….at work…..while being paid….that’s at least 10 Hours Per Week!

I’m a freelancer, so I can’t [...]

President’s Day? We should celebrate Taxpayers Day instead!

The Worried Worker (W2)

It’s probably the greatest honor that one can achieve in life: being so popular that a chia pet is created in your likeness.

(Obama has two available – a determined one and a laughing one.  We chose determined because his job is no laughing matter.  These are available for pre-order through amazon.com – just click on [...]
