Hiring Offshore Employeez

Letter To W2

I overheard some managers talking about hiring more people in India because they can get about five or six of them over there for the price of one of us here.  They also said they’re going to freeze all hiring here until further notice.  Is this a good thing?

Dear Dear (can’t think of what to name you…)

International Bizpain…… can it be? You ask, ‘is this a good thing’?  It all depends for whom?  It can be for those hired in India, to reduce company costs, and possibly increase company profits…..so they say.  I’m not a fan of moving work off shore for a number of reasons which are as follows:

-          Loss of control of the processes at hand

-          A belief that we can do the job(s) better

-          A desire to keep as many jobs in America as possible

I’ve worked with a number of companies that outsourced business to off shore countries.  Most were not happy with the long term results and have since brought back a number of these jobs; specifically those that outsourced its customer service call centers.  Not to insult anyone; but have you ever heard a foreign individual try to speak like a Texan?  Many of the major credit card companies were pioneers in moving work to other countries and have since regretted it.

India is not as popular as it once was; although it still retains a grip on those jobs we snotty Americans don’t want to do.  Are you a snotty American?

So, I don’t have any true words of wisdom here…..other then stick to your job, do it well, and get your co-workers to stop whining and get to work.

Hope to hear from you soon; telling me that your company has retained all jobs here is the good old US of A.

So who are you going to vote for?  Which candidate will keep the jobs here in America?

Till then, keep smiling, be positive, and work your ass off.

You can get about six people in India for the price of one in the US. It’s like getting a whole six-pack for the price of one bottle.

It happened in our company. I know it saves money, but it isn’t great for customer service because each time you get transferred, you get to a different accent.
