Dear W2
We have strict meeting rules that everyone has to follow – except the executives. We’re expected to be in a room early, ready to begin a meeting exactly at the scheduled time. Today, we started one late and ended it late, which made me late for my next one, and I didn’t have time to go to the ladies room first. Well the meeting went on and on, and even longer because the Vice President kept walking out of the room to take calls on his cell phone. I had to go to the bathroom really bad and finally just got up and rushed out the door. When I came back, I got the stink eye from the VP through the end of the meeting. What was I supposed to do?
Dear Gotta Go:
You Gotta Go, Girl. What are you supposed to do? What you should be asking is……Is this the type of company I want to work for? Are you kidding me, the pee police don’t allow you to leave a meeting? Have you or the other employees addressed this with your Human Resources Department? If you haven’t you should!
Why would you want to work in this place? What happens if you’re out ill and miss a meeting? Do they take you outside and flog you?
I couldn’t work in pee-pain……stand up and revolt, this is nuts!

People should have regular breaks during the day and in meetings. My husband is a salesman and has shared with me the number of times he’s been in presentations and had to go to the bathroom. It’s funny sometimes after the fact, but when it’s happening it can be pretty scary. I think your boss is irrantional.
I think everyone has been in this situation. But it’s not good to be treated like this just because you have to go to the bathroom. I agree with W2, why work in this place?
