Dear Worried Worker
My company takes money out of my paycheck to pay for medical benefits that I really don’t use. I’m in pretty good shape and stay healthy, and I’ve asked not to participate in the benefits, but they say I can’t. When I got the job, they never told me that I had to give up some of my money for this – why should I, I’m healthier than a horse.
Dear Seabiscuit -
I have two words for you! AIN’T LEGAL! If your company is taking out benefit contributions without your written consent; then you need to visit your Human Resources Department Director. If you don’t have an HR Rep. then call the Labor Board. Again, it ain’t legal! …..BUT…. BEFORE you do this; ask to see your personnel file to ‘ensure’ you did not give written authorization and just didn’t realize it? Make sure before you lodge this type of complaint! If your statements prove to be true, then this is big, really big! It’s a major law suit waiting to happen! Sue the crap out of them!
Now, my next comments are about the medical benefits. ARE YOU CRAZY, not wanting a health plan? Regardless of your age, sex, health, etc. everyone needs to be properly insured. All it takes is one visit to the emergency room and you’ll be sold on the benefits of medical coverage. Go get educated on your company benefits, ask family and/or friends what some of their medical costs have been; and you’ll be enlightened on the costs of medical attention! Trust me, you’ll have much greater bizpain if you’re not properly insured.
Write me back and let me know the outcome! Can’t wait to hear back from you!

I don’t get benefits where i work - you should be happy.
